FCA calls on private market firms to manage conflicts of interest in line with rapid growth
The FCA published the findings of a review of how firms identify, manage, mitigate and disclose conflicts of interest across private equity, private credit and real estate. The review found good practice alongside recurring weaknesses in cross-fund transfers, multi-party transactions, gifts and entertainment, and information barriers. The FCA states it expects firms to identify, record, manage and disclose conflicts effectively and to demonstrate fair treatment of investors.
Pemeriksaan yang perlu dipertimbangkan
Review whether the firm's conflicts identification and recording arrangements cover cross-fund transfers and multi-party transactions.
Check whether gifts and entertainment controls and information barrier arrangements are up to date with the firm's current size and complexity.
Consider whether conflicts disclosures give investors enough information to assess whether their interests are being protected.
The FCA has published policy statement PS26/22 setting out final rules and perimeter guidance (PERG) for the regulation of ESG rating providers in the UK, following HM Treasury legislation bringing ESG ratings within the regulatory perimeter. FCA encourages former Verus Financial Services Limited customers to check if they can claim with FSCS
The FCA published a consumer notice that former customers of Verus Financial Services Limited may be eligible for compensation through the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), subject to assessment. Verus was an independent financial adviser that has not had permission to carry out regulated activities in the UK since 2025, and the FCA is supporting the FSCS in assessing claims.

Review fraud awareness guidance on recovery room scams and unexpected contact claiming to be from Verus.
What does 'fair value' look like in practice? Three years into the Consumer Duty, here’s what we’ve learned.
The FCA blog shares observations from reviews of how firms assess, evidence and monitor fair value under the Consumer Duty, including fees and charges work and supervisory work on home energy consumer hire agreements. It sets out three areas that distinguished stronger from weaker approaches and questions firms can use to challenge their own assessments.
Pemeriksaan yang perlu dipertimbangkan
Check whether fair value assessments set quantified customer benefits directly against fees and interest paid, rather than relying on assumptions or product descriptions.
Review whether fair value is assessed across customer segments and pricing groups, not only across the whole target market as one group.
Consider whether comprehension of charges and total price is tested directly with customers, and whether 'pay as you save' or similar promotions could imply guaranteed savings or affordability.
The FCA published a notice that Bullseye Financial Ltd entered administration on 23 October 2026, with Robert Young and Matthew Haw appointed as joint administrators. The firm, authorised by the FCA, served only professional investors in portfolio management and execution-only dealing, and had agreed on 11 March 2026 to a voluntary requirement to stop all regulated activity. The not-so-fine print: making consumer contracts fair
The FCA blog explains how it reviews and challenges unfair or unclear consumer contract terms under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Duty, and summarises example cases including a crypto firm's storage fees and a travel insurer's delay wording. It sets out what the FCA expects firms to do, such as using plain language, testing customer understanding and reviewing contracts regularly.
Pemeriksaan yang perlu dipertimbangkan
Review consumer contract terms for fairness and transparency, including fees, cancellation rights, variations, exclusions and complaints handling.
Check whether existing contracts still rely on terms that could be unfair, and whether redress may be due where such terms were applied.
Consider testing whether customers understand key contract terms and whether complaints data points to unclear wording.
FCA Chair Ashley Alder delivered a speech at the Michael D. Gill Lecture on international financial regulatory cooperation, dated 13 October 2026 and published 6 November 2026. He argues that risks now travel horizontally across firms, sectors, supply chains and jurisdictions, citing climate-driven insurance withdrawal and shared digital infrastructure dependencies such as cloud providers and AI models. The speech concerns regulators in general and is a drafted text that may differ from the delivered version.
CP26/39: Income sharing distribution and operational incident reporting for consolidated tape providers
The FCA consults on rules for how the equity consolidated tape provider (CTP) should split its income among data contributors, and proposes extending enhanced operational incident reporting requirements to all CTPs. The consultation is relevant to trading venues, approved publication arrangements, systematic internalisers, current and potential CTPs, and trade associations.

Firm-level complaints data sortable table: 2026 H1
The FCA published a sortable table of firm-level complaints data for the first half of 2026 (H1), covering firms that reported 500 or more complaints in the 6-month period, or 1,000 or more for an annual reporting period. The table shows, per firm and product group, complaint figures and context columns (open, closed, closed within 3 days, closed after 3 days but within 8 weeks, upheld), with a note that context figures for insurance and protection products may be elevated for some firms because they cannot calculate total past PPI policies sold.
Pemeriksaan yang perlu dipertimbangkan
Check whether your firm appears in the table and whether its reporting period and product group figures match your own complaints records.
Review the note on PPI-related context figures when comparing insurance and protection data with other firms.
